this license has been updated in the version that is now available for download.

get the full version for spell check support or the lite version if you dont want the spell check support or reliance on the mfc libs (statically built).

i downloaded it and its pretty wicked.
the 'Detect Music Now' button is a block lower than the 'Detect Music Now' typing box, in the older versions they were side by side.
Not that its a big deal.. just thought i would tell you about it.
Also, i noticed that the pencil icon flashes red sometimes.
What does that mean?
That you are getting a comment?

Its a cool client..
i really like how i can login to deadjournal if i want to..

it means one of your friends updated their journal. you can turn it off in the view.. options menu.

On the login screen (where you type in your username and password) there is also a text-box for the server name. It normally has www.livejournal.com in there. Just change it to www.deadjournal.com and you're set!

To change it back to www.livejournal.com, just logout, change the server name back, and login again.

The adult thing would have been to discuss any problem you had calmly and rationally with Brad, outside the public forum of LiveJournal. I was amazed and proud of the fact that Brad kept out of the public areas where the debate raged with you looking like a spoiled child.

Keep your "offical client", there are plenty more out there to choose from.

Suggestion:

With the server entry (on the login screen), why not make that remember the past few (10) servers used? (Like with Username)

suggestion
*being able to import/export entries (incase you want to start now, but finish later?)
*being able to select font attributes (color, size, weight, etc.?)

i would try implement them, but i dont know any other lang. other then vb.

i just downloaded the lite version and when i logged in i set it for autologin and store password.. now i dunno how to get it out of autologin! it wont leave my toolbar either. i want it gone! help.

oh yes, and when i click on the icon on my desktop, it brings up the update box, but all the options and crap at the top are like disabled or something! save me somebody.

To unset auto-login open the client and select File: Logout (or CTRL-Q). Once on the "Login" screen, you can unclick the "Auto-login" feature.

I'm not sure what "options and crap" you're talking about, but selecting the "View: Subject Line" and "View: Post Options Button" will probabl help you out.

Hi.... I tired installing the livejournal client on my system... but I guess it doesn't support Windows XP? Is there any client I can run now that I've upgraded to XP?

"Bug" report - at least I think so
I used the latest Win32 client and did an "Edit Last Entry." I edited the entry and then clicked the OK button. I received back a "Cannot Contact Server" error, which is fine. I click that OK button, and the "Edit Last Entry" window disappeared as if the edit was successful. To be sure, I checked the post again and the edits had not been saved.

Suggestion: Don't close the "Edit Last Entry" box if an error is returned from the server.

Having a strange thing happen when I try to login through the client now, I get a Client error: No mode specified, it was just working yesterday? And idea's?

can you help me out? i downloaded the client and a message comes up saying that i either didn't download it fully or i have a virus..download again or scan for virus's..i did both and now it won't install...i'm screwed cause i deleted my old lj client before doing this..is this common?

I'm running Windows '98 and I'm getting an error for that stupid OLEACC.DLL file. It's giving me this error:

The OLEACC.DLL file cannot start.
Chack the file to determine the problem.

I've tried to download and install the LJ client, and downloaded the .DLL many times now and still nothing works.
Any suggestions?

THANKS to whoever added the font option!
I'm using a small monitor, and being stuck with 10 point type was a real pain. I was just about to suggest taht an option be added to change the font, but I downloaded the new client and whee! It's there! Thank you ever so much!

i downloaded the recomended client and it said it was corrupted do i have a virus on my computer? I dont have macafee or norton. so i may have one. help? when it said the file may be corrupted or you could have a virus on ur puter..

sorry if this gets asked repeatedly, but i was wondering where i could find all the shortcuts (like ctrl-d for strikethrough, etc) that are available within the client? is there a common post i could add to my memories? would just like something i can easily refer to :)

btw, any chance of having the client work with mozilla? my girlfriend and i share a computer, she uses IE (its the default browser) and i use mozilla. would love to be able to use the 'what are my friends doing?' features and such...

No answer for the first (I use the semagic client, and that has a list of shortcuts in the help menu; see if yours does too?). As for the second, it should be enough to just change your default URL-handler for HTTP to Mozilla, and any program that launches http URLs should then load Moz instead of IE. In fact even IE obeys that rule: if I click on a link in the IE toolbar or favourites, they load in a new Mozilla window instead of IE. D'oh :)

Edit->Preferences
Advanced->System

Make sure HTTP is ticked - do the others too if that's what you want. If you don't want Internet Explorer to complain, there's a "programs" menu in your "Internet Options" with an option called "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" that you should un-check. (The button above should make IE default again, if you ever want to go back).
